Maker of Levovist®, Echovist®, and Sonovist®. Levovist® is a contrast agent made of galactose crystals. When suspended in liquid, microbubbles are formed. Palmitic acid is added as a surfactant to stabilize the microbubbles. Levovist® has been available in Europe since 1996. Sonovist® consists of microbubles with a polymer shell (Cyanoacrylate) and Sulphor hexafluoride gas.
